Highlights: For 128 kindergarten children, the municipality has now had to send cancellations because the places are occupied. Around 20 of these children will not be three years old until May/June 2024, so there is no entitlement in these cases. 50 children are currently on the waiting list for the crèche groups in the new Amperauen children's home. The mayor said that this need would actually be covered with the planned new construction of a three-group crèches. The city of Moosburg has now had to cancel 128 kindergarten registrations for the new kindergarten year. The situation is also tense in the area of the crèches.

Moosburg – Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW) now had bad news in the Moosburg city council: For 128 kindergarten children, the municipality has now had to send cancellations because the places are occupied. Around 20 of these children will not be three years old until May/June 2024, so there is no entitlement in these cases. In this context, however, Johannes Becher (Greens) made it clear "that more than 100 children with a legal claim are still being rejected". He therefore wanted to know what strategy the town hall would like to use to correct this situation.

"We are trying to find solutions. But it's difficult."

Dollinger pointed out that the city's kindergartens are well staffed and thus virtually fully utilized. Even for the containers on Hodschager Straße, three people have already been recruited, although the personnel tendering has not yet begun. From 1 June, this facility can be started with one group and later a second group can be opened. Here, the city could generate up to 50 new places in the near future.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

According to Dollinger, the other potential for places available at short notice is the two groups of the Catholic kindergarten that have been closed due to a lack of staff. There, too, 50 places could be created again. "We wouldn't be bad at it," Dollinger said, referring to the Catholic kindergarten and the containers as short-term options. Regarding the lack of staff at the other institution, he made it clear that the city was on board: "We are trying to find solutions. But it's difficult." Meanwhile, the head of the town hall does not see the introduction of the labour market allowance for care staff as a helpful approach.

50 children are currently on waiting lists for the crèches

Another problem of the city is the lack of places in the area of the crèche. According to the city leadership, there are currently 50 children on the waiting list for the crèche groups in the new Amperauen children's home. The mayor said that this need would actually be covered with the planned new construction of a three-group crèche.

"During Corona, the goal was always to get ahead of the wave," said Johannes Becher, "but we traditionally run behind in our childcare places." The Green City Council pointed out that the need for places would continue to increase until the currently planned facilities are completed. That's why a long-term plan is needed to avoid floods of cancellations like this year.
