Kyiv/Moscow – The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced on Tuesday (16 May) the death of a US volunteer fighter who fought alongside Kyiv in eastern Ukraine. In a video circulated by Russian military bloggers, Prigozhin presented the body of a soldier in the midst of rubble, who is said to be a US citizen.

In the short video, Prigozhin can be seen walking with his men at night while muffled explosions can be heard. When and where the pictures were taken remains unclear. With respect, because he did not die in grandfather's bed, but in the war," said the businessman, whose paramilitary Wagner group is fighting on the front line for Russia in the embattled city of Bakhmut.
