Despite the hype, rumors, conspiracy theories about a biased win and of course hope from quite a few fans, the legendary ABBA band will not perform at Eurovision 2024.
As you know, the winner of this year's competition is Lorin of Sweden. This led many to argue that her win was known in advance, as the competition will be held in Sweden next year, exactly on the 50th anniversary of ABBA's 1974 win.

The successful Swedish band won the competition with the hit song "Waterloo", which was the first single on the band's second album, and even won the Eurovision Song Contest Jubilee Song Contest held in Denmark in 2005.
The song won the Swedish pre-Eurovision Song Contest and later won first place in the Eurovision Song Contest, and was considered groundbreaking in style as well, as it was the first winning song that was not ballad-style and featured a fast rhythm and colorful costumes.
"ABBA has announced that they will not take part in Eurovision in 2024," read a tweet posted on the Eurovision News Twitter page, which has received more than 2.3 million views so far, a report confirmed by the band's representatives after being contacted by British gossip site Metro.

However, all is not lost, and it is believed that the band members will take part in the competition in one form or another. The leading guesses as to how this will be done range from a recorded TV message, the use of their avatars (affectionately known to fans as abbatars) or a medley of their greatest hits to be performed by contest participants.
