The Central District Prosecutor's Office today (Thursday) filed an indictment against Isiah (Yitzhak) Hawass, 87, from Rehovot, for murdering his wife with a hammer and a screwdriver.
The indictment states that Yitzhak and Valentina were married and lived in their apartment in Rehovot. Last April, while they were together in the living room, Isaac hit Valentina several times in the head and upper body, apparently with a hammer, and continued to hit her with a screwdriver or similar object. As a result of these blows, Valentina's central nervous system was damaged, leading to her death.
Isaac then washed his hands, hid the hammer in a tool bag in the bathroom, threw the shirts he was wearing in the laundry basket, and put clean shirts in their place. In addition, Isaac left the deceased to wallow in her blood without calling for help.

At about three o'clock in the morning, he pressed the panic button in the house connected to the Natalie hotline and asked for medical help because he felt tightness in his chest.
When the respondent was asked by the dispatcher to call for rest, he falsely claimed that his wife was drunk and asleep. The respondent did not give an explanation for this statement during his interrogation, and even denied that he had said it. It should also be noted that during the same conversation, a noise similar to the noise of a zipper was heard several times. The prosecution claims that the defendant's various versions are full of contradictions, lies and internal irrationality, on essential points relating to the core of the dispute,
and without giving an explanation.
It should be noted that the defendant claimed that one or more strangers entered his home and hit him on the head while he was lying on the couch in the living room. As a result of the blow, the respondent fell to the ground and lay on the floor between the sofa and the living room table. According to him, he apparently fainted and only 20-30 minutes later managed to reach Natali's panic button and call for help. According to the respondent's version, he did not see or hear that the deceased was attacked.
Shalom, attorneys Miri Adut and Anna Shechtman Kruger of the Public Defender's Office, who represent the elderly man accused of murdering his wife in Rehovot: "This is a serious family tragedy. The elderly Holocaust survivor who suffers from dementia is in a serious state of health and mental health and vehemently denies causing his wife's death.
"There was never violence at home and they lived with great love for 50 years. The indictment also does not attribute to him any motive for harming the deceased. The elderly man's family is struggling to come to terms with the painful loss of the deceased and the suspicions against the father, and it accompanied him throughout the legal proceedings. We have not yet received the investigative materials, and after studying them, we will present our arguments to the court."
