Berlin/Munich – Once again, the climate group "Last Generation" is blocking the streets of Berlin. On Ascension Day (18 May), around 14 locations in the German capital are affected. Already in the past few days, there have been repeated new actions of the climate group in Berlin. In doing so, the activists glued themselves not only to the roads, but also to car tires of cars. Holiday traffic in Berlin is stagnating.
Last generation blocks streets in Berlin: Protests continue on Father's Day
Since Thursday morning, there have been protest actions at various locations, the police announced. Accordingly, among other things, the main train station and the city motorways A100 and AVUS are affected. A police spokeswoman said that forces were on site and tried to dissolve the blockades. According to the climate group, they deliberately want to obstruct holiday traffic out of the city with the blockades.
On Twitter, the "Last Generation" announced: "Unfortunately, there is not the slightest reason to celebrate on this holiday when our children have no prospect of a future worth living." Pictures showed the activists sitting on the street with banners or gluing their hands to the asphalt.

The spokesperson of the climate group, Carla Hinrichs, will be there. She is protesting once again on the streets of Berlin. "We are not completely at the mercy of these life-threatening changes, but we initiate them ourselves, so we can end the spiral of escalation," she said in a statement from the "Last Generation".

"Surrounded by floods, droughts and fires, we celebrate Father's Day today. I cannot stand this absurdity, this hypocrisy, which is why I am sitting here today. Unfortunately, there is not the slightest reason to celebrate if my son has no prospect of a future worth living," said another activist who glued himself to Hohenzollerndamm.
However, sticking to the street is not the only form of protest that the climate group chooses. On Berlin's Kurfürstendamm, they smeared several luxury shops with paint. (vk/dpa)
