Fiber optics in Oberalting, Hechendorf will have to wait

2023-05-18T09:17:55.884Z

Highlights: Deutsche Telekom is laying around 2000 lines in Oberalting-Seefeld. Other districts will have to wait, Hechendorf probably until 2028. If you want to have a fiber-optic connection, you have to give Deutsche TeleKom's consent. Even those who live in a rented apartment can order the fiber optic connection. But the municipality of Delling, Meiling, Drößling and Unering must be carried out by the municipality itself.

Deutsche Telekom is laying around 2000 lines in Oberalting-Seefeld. Other districts will have to wait, Hechendorf probably until 2028.

Seefeld – The wait is over: At least the district of Seefeld-Oberalting is supplied with a fiber optic network, and the groundbreaking ceremony has now taken place. Deutsche Telekom plans to lay around 1980 fiber-optic lines by the end of the year, the company said in a press release. The people in the districts of Hechendorf, Meiling, Drößling and Delling, however, will have to be patient.

In Hechendorf, the work for the fibre optic expansion for Seefeld could already be observed. The main distributor is located on Hirtenweg, and work troops laid the cables in the direction of Oberalting along Inninger Straße. "Fiber optics is the key technology for our digital society. The new network increases the attractiveness of our municipalities," said Seefeld's mayor Klaus Kögel at the groundbreaking ceremony at the corner of Oskar-Maria-Graf-Straße and Ahornweg. Fibre optics ensure the future viability as a residential and business location "and it also increases the value of a property".

"Only properties with an order will be connected to the fibre optic network. Now is the last chance to order a fiber-optic tariff," says Thilo Kurtz, contract manager at Deutsche Telekom. The fiber optic connection does not come into the house by itself. If you want to have a fiber-optic connection, you have to give Deutsche Telekom's consent. Even those who live in a rented apartment can order the fiber optic connection. As long as the landlord did not incur any costs, he could not refuse his consent. "Deutsche Telekom will coordinate the construction project with the owner," the company said. The same applies to owners in apartment buildings: they could also order a fiber optic connection. However, it makes sense to supply all apartments with a connection in the course of the fibre-optic expansion. Under www.telekom.de/glasfaser after entering the respective address and then selecting "To the products", all citizens can order a fiber optic product. In addition, a permit for the house supply (HTN) can also be issued. Details will then be discussed at the start of construction.

As Roland Werb, shareholder of the Seefeld-based company Corwese, explained yesterday when asked, Deutsche Telekom is also responsible for the fiber-optic expansion for the Hechendorf district. However, it is not expected until 2028, when individual streets can be supplied with better Internet via so-called "super-vectoring", which also applies to parts of Meiling. This option can be checked on the Telekom website. However, the fibre optic expansion for the districts of Delling, Meiling, Drößling and Unering must be carried out by the municipality itself. "A market exploration is currently taking place for this, and we may be able to put it out to tender at the end of the year," says Werb.
