At the same time that July 9 was collapsed by the unprecedented mobilization that brought together social organizations of the ruling party and the opposition – with secretaries and undersecretaries of the Government who protested in front of Social Development – the head of the Evita Movement Emilio Pérsico entered the Buenos Aires government building.
The Secretary of Social Economy, who administers 1,200,000 social plans that consume half of the ministerial budget, went to La Plata to meet face-to-face with Axel Kicillof. He was accompanied by Eduardo "Cholo" Ancona, historical leader and former provincial senator of Evita and the man who was behind the legal arming of Patria de Los Comunes, the brand new party seal presided over by Pérsico and with which the largest social organization of Peronism intends to fight in the PASO in a score of districts.
After the ratification that Cristina Kirchner will not be a candidate, the pressure on the governor grows. The Evita will help you shield yourself. Pérsico is already thinking about an act of Patria de Los Comunes to support the candidacy for re-election for governor after May 25. A few weeks ago Daniel Menéndez, of Somos Barrios de Pie and vice president of the new party, did the same in Ensenada. Now they imagine a stronger deployment.
The paradox is that Evita tries to maintain the balance with La Cámpora, an old territorial adversary, which now actively pressures for Kicillof to occupy the central place of the Frente de Todos ballot and free the governor's box for which they sound from Martín Insaurralde, to Gabriel Katopodis or Máximo Kirchner himself. . In Evita they believe that the best option is to go with a single candidate for President, a single candidate for governor (Kicillof) and with alternatives in the municipalities. They argue that removing Kicillof from the province would disrupt Peronism's main stronghold.
Such is the ecumenical eagerness of the Persian organization, that they privately plan to stage their acceptance to participate in the May 25 march that will have Cristina Kirchner as the main speaker. Máximo Kirchner could be one of the star guests at that announcement, although neither La Cámpora nor the organization of Pérsico confirm it.
In the Evita they opted for the initial prudence, that is why they chose not to go to the act of SMATA, where the call of the 25M was official, although they had been invited. "Everyone treats us well, for now. They need the Evita to take 50 thousand people to the Plaza. Kicillof received Pérsico and Ancona in his office for almost an hour and a half. The governor spoke about the complex scenario of maturities that await Argentina in 2024. He repeated again that he is willing to play anywhere, but believes that his main contribution to what is coming is from the Buenos Aires governorship. He asked his visitors for the commitment that there will not be a bloody intern, a reasonable request because there is an ongoing judicial investigation for a shooting threat in La Matanza for which Evita blames Mayor Fernando Espinoza.
In the social organization they do not believe that the governor can fulfill his threat to split the provincial elections of the national ones, because he would lose the Milei effect (which steals more votes from JxC) and because he could mess up the closing of lists.
National flirtations and district PASO
At the national level, the Persian organization does not yet have a favorite. On Wednesday, Fernando "Chino" Navarro received Alberto Perez in his office at Casa Rosada. A meeting between the leaders of Evita (who were part of Scioli's Buenos Aires government) and the motornaut that was suspended by the President's trip to Brazil is at hand.

Navarro and Pérsico also sat with Sergio Massa at the climax of the currency run. Now, Evita leaders maintain that it was a gesture to help stabilize rather than political support for the economy minister.
The relationship between Kicillof and Evita was never easy. The provincial president never added leaders of that group to his administration like Fernández to the national government and privately blamed them – such as Sergio Berni and La Cámpora – for the takeovers in Guernica, in 2020.
Evita must renew a national and a provincial bank, but that was not the axis of the discussion with Kicillof. His priority is to be able to compete in La Matanza, Ituzaingó, Lanús and Lobos, among other districts.
After several cross-communications, Pérsico and Kicillof became partners for the re-election of the governor. The head of Evita whitewashed his support for the former economy minister to go for a second term in the province. "The colleague who is in better condition is Axel Kicillof," he said at the presentation in society of his brand new label, a gesture that Kicillof thanked him by phone.
Carlos Bianco, Kicillof's right-hand man, had already received Ancona in March to seal that support and did not hesitate to cross to Navarro, when the national official questioned Kicillof for his Buenos Aires origin and warned with great logic that the social situation of the Province was no less worrying than the national scenario.
"Axel is very good, but he does not understand politics and will not have an impact on the national lists," say some of his detractors in the social organization, who do not have much faith about the places they promise Evita.
After the mobilization on July 9, there are already contacts between Evita leaders and the Minister of Social Development Victoria Tolosa Paz, who multiplies internal enemies, to reestablish a dialogue table next week.
