Games, fun and action: The top 25 theme parks in Europe – German number 1

Highlights: There are over 1,000 theme parks in Europe waiting to be visited. Out of 74 of them, the travel portal Travelcircus has now chosen the top 25. Five criteria were used to determine the best theme parks. The front-runner among the adventure parks is Europa-Park Rust in Germany. It did well across all categories, but scored the most in terms of good visitor ratings. Close behind are the fairytale theme park Efteling in the Netherlands and Disneyland Paris.



Are you looking for thrills? There are plenty of amusement parks in the area – and according to an analysis, Germany is even home to the best in Europe.

Whether it's a long weekend or a day trip, amusement parks offer plenty of excitement, action and entertainment to spend some quality time with friends and family. But where do you want to go? There is plenty to choose from: there are over 1,000 theme parks in Europe waiting to be visited. Out of 74 of them, the travel portal Travelcircus has now chosen the top 25.

Top 25 theme parks in Europe – best park in Germany

Five criteria were used to determine the best theme parks in Europe: value for money, online reviews from visitors, level of awareness, fun factor for all ages and the number of Instagram posts. The result shows that the front-runner among the adventure parks is Europa-Park Rust in Germany. It did well across all categories, but scored the most in terms of good visitor ratings. Close behind are the fairytale theme park Efteling in the Netherlands and Disneyland Paris.

    Seven other German amusement parks made it into the top 25: Phantasialand near Cologne just missed the top ten – here, too, there were many good reviews from visitors. Other amusement parks include the Hansa-Park in the Baltic Sea resort of Sierksdorf near Lübeck, the Heide-Park Resort in Soltau or the Holiday Park in Haßloch.

    Compared to the previous year: Amusement parks have become expensive

    The price range for a visit to an amusement park is huge, as Travelcircus has found: a family of four can get rid of between 36 and 534 euros for a day, depending on the adventure park. In the last year alone, admission prices have risen by almost 14 percent. It is particularly expensive on a spontaneous excursion: Here, families pay up to 125 euros more.
