Highlights: MK Avi Maoz, chairman of the Naam party, sent a letter this morning to Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs. Maoz threatened that if the Jewish National Identity Authority does not receive the budget he claims was set in the coalition agreements, he will vote against the budget. "I see no reason to object to the details of the clauses I sent – this means that the coalition will shrink to 63 Knesset members," Maoz said. Agudat Israel chairman and Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf is threatening to resign from his position this Sunday.

The chairman of the Noam party threatened that if the Jewish National Identity Authority did not receive the budget that he claimed was set in the coalition agreements, he would not support the budget at all. "I see no reason to object to the details of the clauses I sent – this means that the coalition will shrink to 63 Knesset members."

MK Avi Maoz, chairman of the Naam party, sent a letter this morning to Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs threatening that if the Jewish National Identity Authority does not receive the budget he claims was set in the coalition agreements, he will vote against the budget. "This means that the coalition will shrink to 63 Knesset members," he added.

"Following your announcement this morning that you will not raise the decision on detailing the budget of the Jewish National Identity Authority at the upcoming cabinet meeting, as required by the government's decision last Sunday regarding the coalition agreements, I regret to inform you that unless a government decision is passed approving this detail before approving the budget, I will not be able to support the budget and will even oppose it," Maoz wrote to the cabinet secretary.

"The breakdown is an identical copy with necessary changes, from a breakdown of clauses approved by the government last Sunday that are mostly in the Ministry of National Missions," he added. "Since the detail is copy-paste, I don't see that there can be a legal or related reason for the Ministry of Finance to object to this detail that I gave. Therefore, I reiterate my demand to pass a government resolution approving the details even before the budget is approved."

Yesterday, Walla learned that Agudat Israel chairman and Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf is threatening to resign from his position this Sunday, as part of the faction's struggle for an additional half a billion shekels in the state budget.

According to sources in the coalition, Agudat Israel has made it clear to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that if a solution is not found over the weekend to the faction's demand for a budget increase for institutions without core studies, one of the party's ministers – Goldknopf or Jerusalem Affairs and Tradition Minister Meir Frosh – will resign from the government, with the aim of returning to the Knesset and voting against the budget in its second and third readings next week.

Goldknopf and Frosh resigned from the Knesset after the formation of the government under Norwegian law, and if one of them carries out the threat and returns to the Knesset, within 48 hours his membership in the Knesset will be renewed and he will replace MK Eliyahu Baruchi, a representative of Degel HaTorah, who does not publicly threaten to vote against the budget. Thus, Agudat Israel will have four fingers that will vote against the budget if the crisis is not solved. The coalition has until the end of this month to approve the budget in the Knesset in three readings, otherwise the Knesset will dissolve and Israel will go to elections.
