Alessandro Maja, the interior designer who between 3 and 4 May 2022 killed his wife Stefania Pivetta, his sixteen-year-old daughter Giulia and seriously injured his eldest son Nicolò, 23, in the house of Samarate (Varese), and who now, confessed, is on trial in Busto Arsizio, asked for "forgiveness for something unforgivable" today in the courtroom, in the province of Varese. Also at today's hearing Nicolò, in a wheelchair after a long period in the hospital, was in the courtroom with his uncles and grandfather.
Judged capable of understanding and willing, Maja answered the questions of the prosecutor Susanna Molteni. He explained that he had killed his wife, then his daughter, and finally that he had hit Nicolò who he thought was dead. But it was not so, so much so that Nicolò, to whom he asked forgiveness, today in a wheelchair was with his uncles Ines and Mirko and grandfather Giulio Pivetta, who when he heard Maja talking about his daughter had to go out. "I couldn't listen to certain things," he explained.
Maja cried and said he was worried about a mistake at work and money, about his wife's expenses with whom there were tensions. On the family's current accounts, however, there were about 280 thousand euros.
"Now it's easy to ask for forgiveness," said Mirko Pivetta, visibly shaken. I do not deny that it is impressive to see a man reduced like this. But what forgiveness after we have read the reports and listened to the modalities?" with which he raged against his family.
