"Sorrow isn't going anywhere." Memorial of the intelligence officer, today (Photo: Yoav Etiel)
Several dozen people attended a memorial service Friday in memory of the intelligence officer who died in a military prison two years ago, whose name is still forbidden. The memorial service was held in the civil cemetery where he was buried.
Relatives, friends and uniformed IDF officers were present, including the commander of Unit 8200. A military cantor sings in the ceremony a merciful God. The parents wished to emphasize that so far the MAG Corps has not yet concluded its opinion regarding the investigation into the circumstances of his death, and that the circumstances of his tragic death are not yet clear.

"We lost a 24-year-old boy prematurely, as a result of improper conduct, doubtful criminality," the father said at the gravesite. "It began with the abuse of a gentle soul through prolonged detention and social isolation, continued with incomprehensible and non-transparent medical treatment that apparently harmed the body, and ended with a death that was certainly not of natural causes."
"The grief isn't going anywhere, not even the feelings of missed opportunity and guilt that maybe we didn't do enough for you," the father said of his son's grave. "Not before your passing and not now, when we have not yet exposed all the heartache and disappointment over the mishandling of the human treasure we entrusted to the IDF."
