The technical unit of the police was therefore not easily able to detach the demonstrators from the vehicles. That's why the fire brigade was called in with special vehicles and technical equipment.
Since the protesters had glued themselves to the drive shafts of lowered vehicles, the fire brigade had to lift the cars off the road to detach the demonstrators from the vehicles, the police spokeswoman said. A crane from a tow truck was used. According to the German Press Agency (dpa), the protest actions of the "Last Generation" lasted until the afternoon, affecting Frankfurter Allee, the main train station and Adenauerplatz, among others. In addition, several activists are said to have blocked the A100 and the Avus city motorway.

Since Thursday morning, there have been protest actions at various locations, the police announced. Accordingly, among other things, the main train station and the city motorways A100 and AVUS are affected. A police spokeswoman said that forces were on site and tried to dissolve the blockades. According to the climate group, they deliberately want to obstruct holiday traffic out of the city with the blockades.
On Twitter, the "Last Generation" announced: "Unfortunately, there is not the slightest reason to celebrate on this holiday when our children have no prospect of a future worth living." Pictures showed the activists sitting on the street with banners or gluing their hands to the asphalt.
