City celebrated this triumph from home, a day before facing Chelsea, a match in which it would have earned them the victory to seal the victory in the league competition. The Sky Blues were eight points behind Arsenal this season, but a four-game winless run by the Gunners, including a 4-1 win at the Etihad, tipped the scales and prevented Mikel Arteta's side from winning their first league title in 19 years.
City have won this league with three games to go and will still have to play against Chelsea, Brighton (May 25) and Brentford (May 28).
