On Sunday, the IDF published recruitment data in the framework of the League of Cities, which examines the percentage of recruits from each city, and those among them who enlist for combat service and go on to officer training. This year, in addition to the authorities, the outstanding schools were invited to the ceremony.

The issue of integrating women into combat roles has increased dramatically by 200% in the past seven years: from 2,200 to more than 7,000 women. The IDF decided that the field day in November of this year would be open to men and women based on the same criteria, and 600-800 women would attend.

Several cities rose significantly in the ranking compared to last year, including Sderot which climbed seven places in the ranking, Nof HaGalil which climbed six places and Kiryat Shmona and Arad five places.

According to the index, in first place in the ranking of large cities for recruiting men is Modi'in, Ra'anana, Kfar Saba, Herzliya, Rishon LeZion, Ramat Gan, Rehovot, Be'er Sheva, Hadera and Petach Tikva. Out of 23 large cities, Bnei Brak is in last place.

Modiin is also in first place in the index of recruitment of women from the large cities, followed by Herzliya, Ramat Gan, Rishon LeZion, Kfar Saba, Ra'anana, Haifa, Holon, Tel Aviv and Hadera, with Beitar Illit in last place.

The data from the Israel Defense Forces show that there is no change in the area of motivation for military service, and for every vacancy in Bahad 1 there are many candidates. The core qualities of becoming officers are above the parameters set by the IDF as a goal (among the best available among those serving in the regular A.B.). In the last recruitment, there were no motivational gaps.

Regarding the fact that Tel Aviv does not appear in the top ten, the IDF said that relative to the recruitment rate in the periphery versus the center, one can see that established cities, with a high socioeconomic index, star in the list of leading cities. The recruitment rate among the population of socioeconomic status is higher than their share among the population such as in Hod Sharon, Kfar Saba, Ra'anana, Hod Hasharon and Herzliya.

Tel Aviv is above average in the percentage of soldiers leaving for officers, but below the average in terms of combat dimensions - 45% compared to the national average of 51.4%. The IDF does not reveal the ratio of soldiers from Tel Aviv who serve in technological units like 8200 compared to the national average.

A senior IAEA source said, "The data clearly indicate that in 2023 as well, the People's Army model exists and is strong. The data published today show that the IDF belongs to the entire State of Israel and that all segments of Israeli society serve in it – combat and meaningful service together. We are constantly and continuously working to improve the screening processes and to utilize the human capital that Israeli society has entrusted to us."

"The IDF is a meeting place and an anchor for cohesion in Israeli society – when we work to integrate a variety of components of society, we strengthen the IDF as the people's army, state, united and strong. We continue to work all the time to enable every DSS who enters the gates to have an equal opportunity to utilize their skills and place the right person in the right place."
