Highlights: The elections in Formosa will be held on June 25, after the governor's decision to split them and separate them from the national ones. In addition to the governorship, the categories of mayors, provincial deputies and councilors will be put into play. The Justicialist Party of Formosa confirmed the obvious: that Gildo Insfrán will be a candidate for governor of the province. The opposition has filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of the Nation to challenge the candidacy of Insfran.

Without surprises, the party congress repeated the formula with Eber Solís as vice-president, as in the 2019 elections. For the Kirchner president, it is 35 years on the ballot. Nepotism in the lists.

The Justicialist Party of Formosa confirmed the obvious: that Gildo Insfrán will be a candidate for governor of the province, in which he will go for his eighth consecutive term. In the midst of the opposition's request for challenge, in the elections of June 25 he will be accompanied by the current vice president, Eber Solís.

Insfrán-Solís was the same formula that prevailed in the 2019 elections, with 70.64% of the votes, ahead of Bogado-Kaluk, of the Frente Amplio Formoseño (28.9%).

For the current governor, with almost 28 years in office, it will be his tenth appearance on a gubernatorial election ballot. To his triumphs as leader of the provincial ballot between 1995 and 2019 are added his appearances as vice presidential candidate of Vicente Bienvenido Joga in the elections of 1987 and 1991, when that governor was able to repeat victory after the reform that enabled reelection.

Twelve years later, the president of the local PJ again changed the provincial constitution to enable indefinite reelections.

The elections in Formosa will be held on June 25, after the governor's decision to split them and separate them from the national ones. In addition to the governorship, the categories of mayors, provincial deputies and councilors will be put into play. In this sense, the provincial Justicialist Congress defined the list of 15 provincial deputies of the PJ-Frente de la Victoria, among whichthere are two other Insfrán.

This is Carlos Insfrán, brother of the governor and provincial deputy. He was at the center of controversy at the end of 2020, when in full mandatory preventive social isolation his son organized a pool party for his birthday. Formosa was one of the provinces that maintained restrictions on movement for the longest time, with complaints of repression and human rights violations.

The other family loan is Yanina Insfrán, daughter of the current president.

In this way, the list of candidates for provincial deputies is made up of: Armando Felipe Cabrera, Inés Loto de Vechietti, Carlos Insfrán, Clara Doroñac, Pablo Sosa, Yanina Insfrán, Hugo García, Elena García, Lucas Rodríguez, Irma Zaragoza, Sinforiano López, Micaela Martínez, Meliano Acosta, María Olmedo and Fernando Aranda.

Request for challenge and controversies over the candidacy of Gildo Insfrán

Gildo Insfran's main rivals at the polls are agricultural producer Francisco Paoltroni and Together for Change deputy Fernando Carbajal.

Carbajal was the one who filed a complaint with the Supreme Court of the Nation to challenge the candidacy of Insfrán, days after the highest court suspended the gubernatorial elections in Tucumán and San Juan.

The opposition legislator presented his amparo for the suspension of "the provincial election process, until this Court is issued regarding the substantive issue," that is, the constitutionality of Article 132 of the provincial constitution that allows the indefinite re-election of the governor and vice president.

In principle, the attorney general, Eduardo Casal, indicated that the Court does not have jurisdiction to analyze the request for challenge in Formosa.

Former federal judge Fernando Carbajal, pre-candidate of Together for Free Formosa.

And Insfrán himself attacked, without naming him, Carbajal. "There are opponents, who are already proclaimed candidates because they do not respect the electoral schedule and are already campaigning. Look inside because it seems to me that those who are a little loose of papers are you, "said the Formoseño governor.

He also accused "the porteños" of wanting to appoint the next provincial president. "What they are looking for is not that this supreme body says that whoever speaks to them cannot be a candidate, but that the porteños what they want is that they directly say who is going to be the governor of the province of Formosa by appointment and not by vote," Insfrán fired.

Angry, the president of the local PJ had already been targeting the City of Buenos Aires.

At the beginning of May he said that "the porteños are a reverend children of their mother" because "they always look to Europe." Hours later he had to go out to clarify his statements. He said he was referring to "the oligarchs" and added: "Here we are poor but worthy."
