Meteorologist Dominik Jung of wetter.net predicts mostly drought until Sunday. Up to 19 hours of sunshine can be expected on Friday (14 May). Maximum temperatures of over 20 degrees are expected. The summer temperatures will continue in the following days.

On Saturday (20 May), temperatures could rise as high as 25 degrees. Only in the east could some clouds with short rain showers occur. On Sunday (21 May) it will be really hot: The temperatures are likely to exceed the 30-degree mark in the blazing sun. According to Jung's weather forecast, Sunday could be the warmest day of 2023 so far and at the same time the first hot day. The beginning of the new week promises high temperatures of up to 28 degrees, but it will be turbulent at the beginning of the week.

The air masses will be humid and thundery, as Jung explains: A "hot and humid soup with 25 to 30 degrees and sometimes violent thunderstorms". On Monday (22 May) and Tuesday (23 May), regionally violent thunderstorms and thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and squalls are imminent. The German Weather Service (DWD) also warns of local severe weather due to heavy rain, especially in the north and southwest. But there are also severe weather warnings in Bavaria.

From Wednesday (24 May), the weather is expected to calm down again, although scattered rain showers are still possible in the north. Dominik Jung commented on the forecast from Sunday with the words: "There will be some thunderstorms and thunderstorms like in midsummer," Jung said of the forecast from Sunday. However, this is not surprising, as the maximum temperatures are more in line with the range that would be considered normal for late June or early July.
