MK Yaakov Asher (Torah Judaism) told a conference of ultra-Orthodox mortgage advisers on Sunday that the government will not fall: "We will not bring down the government under any circumstances. It's good government," he said. In his remarks, Asher also addressed the criticism and demonstrations directed against the ultra-Orthodox public in recent times against the background of the budget and the draft law. "It is impossible to remain indifferent to this anti-Semitic persecution campaign, there is no other definition for it," he said.

"We are being persecuted for the very definition of who is entitled to receive civil rights here, for our legitimacy," said the Knesset member and chairman of the Interior Committee. "We are labeled again and again and so until we get to the chilling statements of bloodsuckers. It hurts us both personally and publicly. We represent a large public in the State of Israel that is entitled to receive what every citizen receives, and this campaign of persecution is about the needs of this public, without looking at anything around," he added.

Asher compared the situation to the previous government and explained that "not long ago there was a government here that sought to distribute billions to the Arab public, so it was not a robbery of the public purse. Whoever forms a government with the left gets safe media backing." In his remarks, the Knesset member addressed the opposition leaders, "the cowardly politicians, who in private rooms were willing to give us any price in the world, only for us to form a government with them." "I despise you with disgust for your silence. Whoever lends a hand, even in silence, to such a thing, no matter what party he is from, we will not cooperate with him. Let them not come and ask us to form governments with them," he said.

Last week, Agudat Israel's Knesset members decided to insist on the retroactive addition of the Avrachim, yeshivas and exemption institutions. Goldknopf reiterated that "this was promised to us in the coalition agreements," and at the meeting it was clarified that "we will not support the budget without fully fulfilling the agreement."

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich made it clear to party leaders earlier this week that "there will be" no additional budget beyond what has already been approved or agreed upon by the government. Despite this, Agudat Israel continues to insist on this. On Wednesday, thousands participated in a protest march in Bnei Brak over the transfer of funds to the ultra-Orthodox public as part of the coalition agreements.
