Hezbollah faces difficulties in smuggling weapons from abroad and has therefore recently sought to take over parts of Beirut's airport, sources told the Beirut website.
According to the Lebanese report, Hezbollah-affiliated Minister of Employment and Transport Ali Hamia is promoting the construction of a new area at Rafik Hariri Airport. All this, without announcing a public tender and in violation of the Information Law.
The minister, for his part, claims that the construction work is part of his effort to develop the field. However, according to the report, the move was launched in light of the prevailing assessment in Hezbollah's decision-making circle that it could pass indiscriminately. Despite this, the minister is now facing harsh criticism on the street.

This report comes against the backdrop of Hezbollah's arms smuggling to Lebanon via Syria. There, according to foreign reports, Israel is attacking airports, arms convoys and weapons depots in order to prevent the transfer of sensitive components that would assist Hezbollah in its precision missile project.
Earlier, Hezbollah held a special military exercise in southern Lebanon, in which its operatives trained in operations against Israeli communities and the abduction of prisoners. All this was done using drones, motorcycles and Israeli flags that simulated the targets of the attack.
During the event, the head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, Hisham Safi al-Din, spoke. Among other things, the official threatened that if Israel committed an "act of folly," it would see the precision missile operation in the heart of its territory. He also stated that Hezbollah had monitored Operation Shield and Arrow in the Gaza Strip and the capability demonstrated by the security establishment against Islamic Jihad.
