Michael Dov Reyes, a 27-year-old from Harish who was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of assaulting a woman at a playground in the city for desecrating Shabbat there, claims that this is a provocation. "The woman is involved in an ongoing conflict between different communities in Harish," he claimed. "On Passover, she distributed chametz to the children and asked them to take it home. She also circulated nude pictures in order to hurt the feelings of the residents."

Dov Rise will remain in custody until tomorrow. After an appeal against the extension of his detention was rejected, the suspect claimed that he was arrested even before the station commander "heard his version and interrogated him." He demands that the investigation be transferred to another station because, according to him, the father of the injured woman volunteers with the Iron police.

Earlier today, Judge Avihu Goffman ordered the release to house arrest of 28-year-old Yaakov David Landa. Landa is the second young man from Harish to be arrested last night along with Dov Rise on suspicion of rioting in a public place over desecrating the Sabbath and resisting arrest.

The incident took place at a new playground in the city, which is also open on Saturdays. "The ultra-Orthodox heard about it and started coming to harass the business owner. They usually come as individuals or small groups. Today they came in mass, something like 40 people," she told Walla! Resident of the locality. "There were a couple of police officers, the business owner and several mothers from the community who tried to arrest them with their bodies and were unsuccessful," she added.

Tzipi Breyer-Sharabi, the woman who was attacked and broke her elbow as a result of the incident, said yesterday that the ultra-Orthodox arrived at the scene and allegedly harassed the partygoers, claiming that they were desecrating Shabbat. They burst into the scene shouting "Shabbas" and the verbal confrontation quickly turned physical. She was taken to hospital due to the complex fracture. "The situation was very scary, but I'm personally not afraid of them," Tzipi said.

Meanwhile, this evening some ultra-Orthodox Jews came again to open the same playground, prayed aloud and shouted. After a few minutes of another commotion, the haredim left.
