The Union of Secondary Teachers announced on Monday morning that a strike is expected tomorrow in 10th and 11th grades in high schools across the country, as a result of the delay in negotiations by the Finance Ministry on the new salary agreement for teachers. This shutdown is expected to join a series of intermittent strikes in the education system that the organization has been engaged in for about two months, as a result of ongoing discussions with the ministry regarding wage gaps.
"More than a year of fruitless negotiations with the Finance Ministry, which have been conducted without any real desire on its part to bring about an agreement," declared Ran Erez, chairman of the teachers' union. "This jeopardizes the future of Israeli students and the quality of secondary educators. It was water to the core." Recently, the parents' leadership published a letter to Education Minister Yoav Kisch addressing the teachers' union's repeated sanctions. According to them, not enough efforts are being made to resolve the ongoing crisis.

The strike continues at universities as well
In the shadow of the cuts in the education budget reported last week in Israel Hayom, Erez continued to address the dialogue with the Ministry of Finance and the state budget. "Hours of hearings held in bad faith prove that the state does not even respect the National Labor Court. This week it was proven that there is money for every subject, except for the future of Israeli students."
Yesterday, a teaching strike also began at universities after the Coordinating Council of Senior Academic Staff Organizations at universities announced the cessation of teaching. The strike took place at the Hebrew Universities, Tel Aviv, Ben-Gurion, Haifa, the Technion, Bar Ilan and the Weizmann Institute. That is, it does not include the colleges. According to them, the organizational step that the council members decided to take came after the Committee of University Heads (VERA), together with the Ministry of Finance and the PBC, have not provided a substantive response to their demand to amend wages due to the erosion that has occurred since the end of the previous agreement.
