A few days ago, they had created the Twitter profile "Lycée Paul Éluard prend l'eau - Saint-Denis 93" to denounce the dilapidated state of their establishment. This Monday, fifty staff - according to the teachers - of this establishment located in Saint-Denis filed a right of withdrawal to demand emergency work on their school building.

"There are big problems," says one teacher. This winter, it was very cold, and after the rains that fell during the Easter holidays, the ceiling collapsed in the CPE office. The walls are waterlogged. And this Monday, a hot water tank flooded the ground floor of the administration building. »

"We are really in a situation of danger, still criticize professors. We are afraid of an incident: everything is wet, the electrical cables are in the water. An officer electrocuted himself and fell from a ladder. Renovations have been requested for years, but nothing happens. The region is not even present at the boards. »

An elected official of the Île-de-France Regional Council visited the establishment on Monday morning. "Companies have come to evaluate the emergency work to be done to correct the sealing defects, they will be done very quickly," says James Chéron.

The vice-president in charge of high schools stresses that Paul-Éluard will benefit from the renovation plan for high schools launched by the region. "This establishment suffers from everything that was not done by our predecessors," he criticizes, recalling that the majority of Valérie Pécresse (Free!) found "more than 200 dilapidated or very dilapidated high schools" when they came to power in 2015.

The project to renovate the high school must be presented to the permanent committee on July 5. "More than 40 million euros of work is planned on the roof, facade, windows to improve waterproofing and energy performance," explains James Chéron. Together with studies and public procurement procedures, they are not expected to start before the end of 2024.

Contacted, the rectorate of Créteil did not wish to express itself on this file.
