Bobigny: new threatening tags target the mayor and his first deputy in front of the latter's home

2023-05-22T18:29:29.494Z

Highlights: Two messages were found at the entrance of a building in Paris. One read: "One is deaf, the other dumb" The other said: "You are not welcome at this building" The messages were written in the same place as the one that was set on fire in March. The building was destroyed in the blaze, but the damage was not as bad as first feared. The incident is being investigated by the Paris prosecutor's office and the city's fire brigade. The city's mayor has called for an increase in the number of police officers on duty.

Less than two months after the arson attack on the Star House, which was preceded by a threatening message to Abdel Sadi

Once again, the mayor of Bobigny and his first deputy face an "attempt at intimidation". On Monday morning, residents discovered inscriptions targeting Abdel Sadi (PCF) and José Moury (PCF) on apartment buildings, including in front of the latter's home. Several cars were also burned in the Pont-de-Pierre district.

These facts revive recent and painful memories in the prefecture-level city. Last March, the north façade of the Maison de quartier de l'Étoile, which was about to open its doors, was completely consumed by flames.

An arson that occurred less than ten days after a first attempt to set fire and the discovery, on the same equipment, of a threatening message addressed to the two main elected officials of the commune: "Abdel Sadi and José Moury, you are not welcome at the Star and Good Children".

Abdel Sadi's office insists on the "premeditated" nature of these acts

The words change but the malicious intent remains. This time, the names of the two men, again inscribed in capital letters, were associated with two messages. "It's your fault," read one at the foot of a building. "One is deaf, the other dumb," was written at the entrance of another. To these tags of obscure meaning, is added another designating Mohamed Cissoko, one of the collaborators of the mayor of Bobigny, as a "dirty sold".

The latter filed a complaint on Monday, as did José Moury. The two men draw a link between these new threats and the fire at the Maison de quartier de l'Étoile. Abdel Sadi's office insists on the "premeditated" and "organized" nature of these malicious acts.

The first magistrate of the prefecture-city is also preparing to go to the police station. While the recent resignation of his counterpart of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (Loire-Atlantique) has revived the debate on the safety of elected officials, he intends to plead with the prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis for an increase in the means devoted to this investigation.

This Monday afternoon, the Bobigny prosecutor's office indicates that "an investigation is entrusted to the (territorial) Security for vehicle fires and registrations". This service is already following the file of the fire at the community centre.
