TheIndyCar Indianapolis 5,00 is in the spotlight of motorsports fans this week. And even more so because the Argentine Agustín Canapino, with the Juncos Hollinger Team, already secured his place in the race after having qualified on Saturday in 27th place after achieving a tiempazo that could have been better if he did not touch one of the walls in his last attempt.
It is known that in this competition it is very difficult that there are no accidents. And, that, coincidentally, happened this weekend. Beyond the touch of the reef and the total madness that was experienced in the test of "Last Chance", all the cars ended up healthy. The good streak, however, was cut short on Monday.
It is that in the rehearsals scheduled for this day there was a brutal accident that had the English Stefan Wilson and Katherine Legge as protagonists. It happened in practice 8, with Canapino on track – he was marching 11th – when both touched and hit each other hard against the wall.
Legge was able to get out on his own, but Wilson, who will start in the same row as Canapino, had to wait a long time to get out of the twisted irons of his car and was taken by ambulance to a hospital. The encouraging sign is that the Englishman gave a thumbs up as he was carried on a stretcher. His car was wrecked.
