"No interest, unjustified presence". The International Film Festival is currently being held in Cannes and the list of accredited individuals seems more controversial than ever. A major event in the world of cinema, the gathering includes actors, brands but also... influencers. This presence, which does not date from this year, annoys and causes the misunderstanding of Internet users on social networks. Particularly targeted is the former Miss France, Iris Mittenaere. The young woman - who has combined the activities of TV host, review leader and influencer - was the guest of the brands APM Monaco and L'Oréal.

Many comments have poured in criticizing the presence of Miss Universe 2016 - not being an actress - at the Cannes Film Festival and her climb of the steps. Among his detractors, one user said: "You are rather worthy of an instagramer starlet than a real star legitimately entitled to walk this red carpet. [...] You can bring it back to you the day you present us with an auteur film" or "Tired of these influencers who are only interested in their physique. Cinema doesn't need that." Others openly ask: "What legitimacy does it have?", "But why on the steps of the film festival?".
"People are moving less and less"
Neither one nor two, Iris Mittenaere was responsible for responding in a general way to those who "do not necessarily understand the presence of personalities and influencers in Cannes". It is via a publication in story on her Instagram account that she justified her coming. Iris Mittenaere then justifies the presence of beauty, jewelry or clothing brands. "The festival also needs financial partners to live, and today, these partners need to be highlighted thanks to influencers or celebrities who walk the carpet. And in 2023, influencers have the power to present it to millions of people in a split second. That is why they call on them.
