A "free press," it turns out, costs money, and a lot: Lavala! Berenger learned that as part of Raviv Drucker's negotiations to continue submitting a "constituency" after Ayala Hasson's departure, Drucker demanded to independently produce the program.
According to sources on Channel 13 News, Drucker's demand was presented during his negotiations on his agreement to "go down" to an earlier hour and vacate the pre-news slot to Guy Lehrer, who signed a three-year agreement.
In practice, this means first and foremost economic – for Drucker, who will enjoy higher profit margins. Drucker already enjoys a salary from Channel 13 News and the profit derived from producing "The Source." Now, according to industry estimates, he will earn an additional NIS 10,13 from every day of filming and serving.
A company source told Walla! Berenger resented the decision, which he said came at the expense of employees at the company and the provision of budgets that he said were more necessary, such as salary increases for employees. The source also expressed surprise at News 12's decision, since it provides Drucker with a studio, crews, reporters and other services.
