Four 16-year-old boys from a community in the Golan Heights were arrested a few days ago on suspicion of assaulting a woman and imprisoned her together with her son in a shelter. In addition, two of them are suspected of sexually abusing the same woman, who is in her forties, a resident of the same community.
The head of the local council issued a statement this evening in which he wrote: "Law enforcement officials are investigating a sensitive criminal case that occurred in the community. The incident is under police confidentiality and personal supervision by me and the relevant authorities. I emphasize that there is no danger to the public. Any attempt by any party to publish news online about the incident borders on gross irresponsibility. The Council will continue to accompany and handle the incident together with law enforcement officials and will update the public as needed. Credible, verifiable and authoritative information should only be obtained from officials."

As far as is known, the boys claim that this is a financial dispute between them and the complainant, a single mother, after they claim that they painted her house and she did not pay the full payment to which she had promised. Their version is currently being investigated by the police. The community said: "If the suspicions are confirmed, this will be a shocking case. If that's true, it's really a gang of teenagers who have adopted criminal codes. It's a terrible case."
A local resident wrote: "The terrible incident that is currently running on social media relates to a shocking incident that occurred last week, in which minors and an elderly woman were involved, I am in constant contact with senior officials at the Golan station."
"I was informed to inform the public that: The minors have been detained for several days with suspicion of very serious charges and the woman is in poor health and mental condition. The incident is being handled by the Golan Police Station and we all believe that the police and the State Prosecutor's Office will handle the incident with a heavy hand and with the utmost professionalism. We, as a community and local residents, will be united like an iron fist – demanding deep and meaningful care that such incidents do not occur in our districts."
