Russia is resorting to the next measure and increasing its armed forces. Earlier, fierce battles with Ukraine broke out in Bakhmut.
Moscow/Kiev - Moscow has been waging an aggressive military advertising campaign in recent months as Kiev prepares for an offensive after months of stalemate in eastern Ukraine. "Between January 1 and May 19, 117,400 people were included in the ranks of the Armed Forces under contracts and voluntary formations," ex-President Dmitry Medvedev said recently.
Medvedev, who is now deputy chairman of the Kremlin's Security Council, stated that Russian officials continue to recruit soldiers under contracts, The Moscow Times reports.

Russia increases army by 100,000 soldiers in Ukraine war
In September, President Vladimir Putin announced a "partial" mobilization — Russia's first since World War II — that caused a stir across the country and forced tens of thousands to flee. Since Moscow did not want to announce a second mobilization, it opted instead for a massive PR campaign in the hope of luring Russians with financial incentives.
The authorities have not disclosed their goals, but according to various estimates, Moscow may be trying to recruit 400,000 volunteers. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in December that it was necessary to increase the number of combat personnel to 1,5 million.
Russia has not communicated losses since September
Russian authorities have not disclosed the current losses since September, when the Defense Ministry said nearly 6,000 Russian soldiers had died in Ukraine. According to Western estimates, about 150,000 Russian soldiers and about 150,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed or wounded.
