A shooting Saturday night at a Missouri nightclub left at least three dead and two wounded, local authorities said.
At the Klymax Lounge in Kansas City, Missouri, authorities responded to a report of shots fired around 2:30 a.m. ET, according to the Kansas Police Department.
"Two victims were pronounced dead on the spot," police said in a statement Sunday morning. "One of those victims was found outside the room and the second was inside the premises."

In addition, three other victims were transported to a hospital, although one of them died en route, our sister network NBC News reported.
All of the victims are believed to have been adults, the statement said.
"Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene," the statement said. "They will process the scene to retrieve any evidence and speak to potential witnesses."

Authorities did not say whether they had arrested any suspects or elaborate on the attacker's motive (it's unclear if it was one person or more).
The Klymax Lounge describes itself as a "dance club and nightclub" on its Facebook page, where it also states that it has a restaurant.
NBC News reached Klymax Lounge for comment.
Four injured after Birmingham bar shooting
In another violent incident this weekend, four people were injured outside a bar in Alabama early Sunday in an incident described by police as a shootout between two sides.
Birmingham police Lt. Ron Harless said three men and a woman were injured outside the Tin Roof bar in the city's Lakeview district, The Associated Press reported.

An off-duty Birmingham police officer working in Tin Roof was alerted to the shooting at about 12:45 a.m. local time.
Police and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and helped a man who had been shot and a woman who had been grazed by a bullet in the parking lot.

An SUV fled the scene but was stopped shortly after. Inside were two seriously injured men, one with life-threatening injuries.
The four injured were taken to UAB Hospital.
Authorities said they are investigating the incident.
