A one-year-old toddler was hospitalized Monday at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem after drinking kerosene from a bottle, apparently accidentally. An MDA team that arrived at the scene in Beit Shemesh took him to the hospital while he was anesthetized and on a ventilator and in serious condition, where he was transferred to the trauma ward where he is currently being treated.
"When we arrived at the scene, we were told that the toddler had accidentally drunk kerosene from a bottle. We gave him first aid and then he was evacuated to the hospital in a state of faint consciousness," said Yechiel Rosenberg, a United Hatzalah volunteer.

Last month, a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler drowned to death in a private pool in a house in the community of Be'er Ganim near Ashkelon. An MDA team called to the scene performed CPR on him and evacuated him to Barzilai Medical Center, where medical teams were forced to pronounce him dead.
MDA paramedic Noa Abitbol said that when she arrived at the house, she saw the toddler in the front yard. "He had no pulse and no breathing and was resuscitated," she recalled. "We were told he was pulled out of the pool unconscious. We gave him medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital while performing CPR while his condition was critical."
