As reality usually surpasses fiction, fiction is often inspired by real events to tell a story that does not become documentary or essayistic, but has a lot of truth. Such is the case of December 2001, the new series of Star + that this Monday presented its trailer, as to warm up the atmosphere towards its premiere in streaming.

The argument revolves around the convictions and desires of Cach, which must give way to the permanent troubles to which the practice of government exposes him. From there, he will have to face one of the worst economic, political and social crises the country has seen in its history.

The crisis of December 2001 installed the so-called "Cacerolazo". It was an institutional crisis enhanced by a generalized disorder that imposed the popular cry of ¡Que se vayan todos! The situation led to the resignation of then-President Fernando de la Rua, leading to a period of political instability during which five officials exercised national executive power in a short time.

On December 1, 2001, De la Rua prohibited the free use of money in savings banks, checking accounts, and fixed terms. Two days later, the measure went into effect and caused a wave of protests.

The president decreed a series of economic restrictions devised by Domingo Cavallo, then economy minister. The term "financial corralito" was first used by journalist Antonio Laje.
