An immigrant man residing in North Carolina won a $100,000 prize in the lottery but doesn't plan to use the money on a new house or car — he wants to invest it in classrooms for children in Mali, the African country where he was born, according to the state lottery.
Souleymane Sana, 39, who is a dance instructor and lives in the city of New Bern, received the prize after buying a ticket to the Millionaire Maker game for $30.
In a Twitter message, the North Carolina Lottery posted a video of an interview with Sana, in which the dance instructor explains that "helping children is personal in his case," and assures that "dancing was not appreciated in his country."
That's why he made a habit of buying a ticket from the Millionaire Maker: "If I won, that money was going to help in the education of the children."

"They [the children] don't even have a desk to sit on [in the classrooms]," she said. "Sometimes they have to walk miles and miles to be able to go [to classes]," Sana said.
After the tax deductions, Sana will receive a total of $71,259.

According to the North Carolina Lottery, Sana created a nonprofit to reach out to Malian residents. In addition to building classrooms for the children, he also hopes to build a dance school for the children.

Sana confessed her love for dance: "I love dancing and I hope to teach that love to the children of Mali," she said.
