In Brandenburg, men celebrated a party on Father's Day – but two 22-year-olds did not show up after a walk to a lake.
Zabelsdorf – Two men have disappeared: In the district of Oberhavel in Brandenburg, the police are faced with a mystery and relatives and friends are in great concern. After a celebration on Friday (May 19, 2023) in the village of Zabelsdorf, two 22-year-olds are untraceable. There is only one trace, because something was found on the shore of the Great Wentow Lake. In several media reports there is talk of a jacket, the German Press Agency writes of "several items of clothing" that are said to belong to the two.
Large contingent searches the region around the Great Wentow Lake for the missing men
The two took part in a Father's Day celebration in the village of Zabelsdorf, a district of Zehdenick, with a population of 230. One of them comes from the region, his companion of the same age from Berlin. The garments are the only traces so far – otherwise there are none, as a police spokesman said on Monday in Neuruppin. The region on the lake had already been searched at the weekend with a large contingent of technology, drones, sniffer dogs, helicopters and divers, but without success. Due to poor visibility in the lake, the underwater search had to be abandoned.

The last contact with the missing had been at the celebration, where a lot of alcohol was drunk, around 3 o'clock, it said. It is not known whether the two were also drunk themselves. After that, they are said to have gone to the shore of the Great Wentow Lake early Friday morning, where they had wanted to continue celebrating. Because of the clothes found, there is a suspicion that the men could have gone into the lake. Even at their places of residence, the missing men have not yet appeared. The lake has an area of 279 hectares and belongs to the Upper Havel waterway.
Volunteers launch private search for the missing men and search on social media

Family, friends and acquaintances have also initiated a search call on social media. Fortunately, missing persons sometimes reappear: a separation dispute between the parents preceded the disappearance of Kayla (then 9). There was no trace of it for six years before it reappeared some 800 kilometres away.
