They could have ended badly, the two fires that Weilheim's fire brigade had to extinguish on Saturday night. Unknown persons had once set fire to rubble, once paper containers.
Weilheim – One or more unknown perpetrators set two fires in the middle of Weilheim last Saturday. Fortunately, these were discovered so early that they went off lightly. The first fire was reported at 2:15 a.m. in Angerkapellenstraße, where, according to police, construction debris was ignited. The Weilheim volunteer fire brigade extinguished the fire with about ten firefighters.

Spread of the flames to the building could just be prevented
Because the insulation on the adjacent house, which according to the fire brigade is currently inhabited by two people, had already been affected by the fire, it had to be opened and checked on the ground floor. This resulted in damage amounting to approx. 5000 euros. "The attack on the wooden shell on the upper floor could just be prevented," reports Weilheim's fire brigade commander Stefan Herbst of the nightly operation: "This would certainly have had far-reaching consequences."
Due to the heat radiation, window panes cracked
At 2.53 a.m., another fire was reported in the Bahnhofsallee in Weilheim – where, according to autumn, a total of five large waste paper containers caught fire: "The heat radiation was so high that some window panes had already cracked," said the fire brigade commander. In this case, the police estimate the total damage at around 2500 euros. With 15 firefighters, the Weilheim fire brigade extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading.
"With the help of 2-C pipes under respiratory protection, the fire could be fought quickly," explains Commander Herbst: "An encroachment, apart from a few bushes, on the surrounding apartment buildings could be prevented." The fire brigade had "the necessary time advantage of a few minutes" due to the previous operation, Herbst continued - "because we were able to drive directly from the first scene".
