The global Likud petitioned the movement's court on Tuesday to order the permanent termination of global Likud member Haim Menachem following his anti-Likud activity on the JNF board of directors. "Acted in complete contravention of the instructions of the body that sent him and appointed him to the position, while personally benefiting from it."
At a meeting of the board of directors of the Jewish National Fund, held last week, there was a storm. Likud board member Haim Menachem acted contrary to the Likud's position in order to be appointed chairman of a JNF committee. This was made possible after Menachem joined the board of directors from the left-wing parties and the Reform and Conservative movements, all in order to himself accept the position of chairman of the JNF's Land Development Administration.

The Likud was outraged by the conduct, and today a petition was filed with the court on behalf of the global Likud to order his ouster. The petitioners wrote that "the respondent, the representative of the global Likud on the JNF board of directors, joined forces with representatives of the center-left and concocted with them a plan for his own appointment as chairman of the MAPAC committee, in complete contravention of the decisions of the global Likud and its directives, in complete contradiction to the votes of the other directors on behalf of the global Likud and on behalf of the right, and in blatant violation of an agreement between the global Likud and the Religious Zionist movement."
It added: "It's hard to overstate the seriousness of things. A director of a company acted in complete contravention of the instructions of the body that sent him and appointed him to the position, benefiting from it personally. The damage done to the global Likud is great. The violation of the agreement between the global Likud and Religious Zionism severely damaged the name of the global Likud, and its contempt, in the sense that the global Likud is portrayed as an unserious body that does not respect agreements, that has no law and no judgment, and that anyone who is honest in his eyes will do."
In light of the conduct, the Global Likud seeks to terminate its membership, "in accordance with its authority under Regulation 10F of the World Likud Rules, to order the permanent termination of the respondent's membership rights in the global Likud; Declare that the respondent no longer represents the global Likud in any body and/or forum; and instruct that the global Likud must use every means to terminate the respondent's tenure as the movement's representative in any body and/or forum, unless the respondent immediately announces the termination of his position as chairman of the JNF's MAPAC committee."
