Staying in the league, the primary goal of the season, had already been achieved in December. The team will start the first preparation phase with a hut weekend and a few athletic sessions at the end of June. Unterhaching/Taufkirchen - The improvement of HT Munich's handball players after a weak first half did not bring any countable success at the end of the Bayernliga playoffs at HSV Bergtheim, but after the 25:29 (7:19) defeat, Andreas Fehrenbach's team was at least able to leave the field with their heads held high.

"The head was probably still on the bus," the coach wondered about the first 30 minutes, after which the strong hosts were 19:7 ahead. For the second half, they had a lot planned. "Of course, the game had long since been decided, but after the last few games, with which we were consistently satisfied in terms of play, we didn't want to say goodbye to the season like that," said the coach. In fact, his team came out of the dressing room transformed, turning the twelve-goal deficit into a four-goal deficit.

The two faces of the HT handball players in this duel reflected a bit of the entire round. "We sometimes play beautiful, modern tempo handball. Sometimes, however, we lack consistency, and again and again we have games where we can't perform for the full 60 minutes," said Fehrenbach's analysis. "We have to keep working on this, even if the trend is going in the right direction."

Overall, the coach was satisfied with the playing time. Staying in the league, the primary goal of the season, had already been achieved in December. "We had a very difficult start in September because many players couldn't take part in the pre-season for various reasons or couldn't start playing until later. Accordingly, the first games were bumpy," Fehrenbach looks back. "But over the following months we were able to develop our own playing philosophy and found our way into the game better and better."

The coach also sees the fact that younger handball players such as Katharina Matheis, Hannah Frühbeis, Lena Zientek, Pia Klenk, Julia Steiner and Svenja Demmel have become important supporters. However, Fehrenbach will have to do without some players in the future: In addition to the trio of Demmel, Sarah Stephan and Melanie Meyer, who have already said goodbye, there is also Sarah Lachner, who is quitting handball. In addition, Amelie Geray will spend a large part of the season abroad. However, Fehrenbach is confident that he will be able to compensate for the bloodletting: "We will bring in two or three new signings and we also have players in our own youth team who can make it into the Bayernliga team in the medium term." At the end of June, the team will start the first preparation phase with a hut weekend and a few athletic sessions.

HT Munich: Gaigl; Sebold (1), Menrath (1), S. Geray (5), Frühbeis (4), Lachner, Thiel (5/2), M. Christoforis (1), A. Geray (4), Matheis (3), Steiner (1)
