North of Kyiv, basic medical care is to be rebuilt – with a mobile clinic. The initiators are asking for donations.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen/Kiev – The Münsing family doctor Dr. Jörg Lohse (57), who structured the corona measures in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen as medical coordinator of the Bavarian Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, personally works according to the motto: "Either I do it right or not at all." His new project: Lohse wants to rebuild a "mobile clinic", i.e. "basic medical care" in the north of the Ukrainian capital Kiev, with the broadest possible support. Also on board with the broad-based relief campaign are District Administrator Josef Niedermaier and Dr. Hanns Hey from the Bavarian East Society (BOG). In Ukraine, the action is coordinated by Father Dr. Andriy Lohin, director of the charitable Sheptytsky Hospital.
A feat of strength for a clinic near Kyiv: Mobile hospital to support rural regions
On Tuesday, the four initiators presented the planned help on wheels at a press conference in Holzhauser's Florianstüberl. The medical care center, or MVZ for short, is to be set up in Vyshhorod. This is a district (district) between Kiev and Chernobyl, four times the size of the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen with the same number of inhabitants. The region was overrun by Russian troops on February 24 last year. The advance of the attackers could only be stopped shortly before the capital Kiev. After weeks of fighting, Putin's army withdrew, looting and destroying local infrastructure. Medical facilities were not spared either.

For a good nine months, there has been no fighting and hardly any rocket attacks in the structurally weak area, but the population urgently needs medical attention. "Young people have moved west or abroad. Many single elderly and sick people do not manage to get to the hospitals. The few GP practices are overloaded," said Andriy Lohin, who joined the press conference on Tuesday via video conference, describing the current situation on site.

Putin's army destroyed the infrastructure: Mobile clinic to help the elderly in particular
For this reason, a team of Ukrainian doctors, nurses, caregivers and drivers is to be put together for the planned mobile clinic. The team will be equipped with so-called instrumental equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of the most common diseases. "Ultrasound and cardio equipment, bandages and many medicines have already been donated to us," reported former dentist Dr. Hey. Some of the doctors come to the patients' homes, some of them offer their services in community halls, halls and, if necessary, large tents provided by the regional government. Those who are immobile and cannot be cared for at home will be picked up by a shared taxi. Seriously ill people are taken to the nearest clinic.
The project is to be financed entirely by the district through donations for half a year starting in July. Lohse's goal is for the concept to be adopted into the regular Ukrainian health care system afterwards. The Münsinger family doctor has calculated that 150,000 euros are needed for the other basic equipment, for the salaries of the specialist staff and the fuel for the vehicles. Employees are selected and hired by the Sheptytsky Hospital. Some of them have lost their jobs as a result of the war, so they too are benefiting in a very concrete way.

District Administrator Niedermaier said he was immediately enthusiastic about the model of the mobile clinic. It has already proven itself many times over in other war regions. Niedermaier: "I will use my network and my personal relationships to raise the necessary money." There will be a district-wide crowdfunding campaign with the support of the Raiffeisen banks, systematic inquiries to large commercial and industrial companies in the district and other campaigns.
