A house under construction was damaged in Sari-Solenzara (South Corsica) by arson and a nationalist tag was found on this property belonging to a Corsican craftsman, said Tuesday the prosecutor's office of Ajaccio and a local elected official.
An "IFF" tag ("I Francesi Fora", "The French outside", Editor's note) was inscribed on this villa under construction, told AFP the prosecutor's office, confirming information from Corse-Matin.
An "amateur" device
An investigation for destruction of property by dangerous means was opened and entrusted to the gendarmerie. The "amateur" device did "little damage", said the prosecutor's office, which nevertheless notified the national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office.

This house belongs to a tiler who is from my commune and whose son is my deputy mayor," André Rocchi, the mayor of Prunelli-di-Fiumorbo, told AFP, expressing his "revolt and some exasperation". "I do not understand that our commune, which is at the service of the population who remains there all year round, is a victim of attacks, especially craftsmen who make houses," he regretted.

By attacking Corsican families, they are fracturing our society, pitting us against each other and as the State has so far no results, I am afraid that we will end up with people who will want to do justice themselves, "added the elected official, deploring a "climate of fear and insecurity". According to this mayor, "it is easier to attack municipalities where there is no surveillance system, private guards than to attack sites where there is luxury and which are fully secure".
On Friday, a house with an inscription "A Francia Fora" ("The France out") was also damaged by a fire in the neighbouring commune of Ghisonaccia. "To burn this house is to burn our family history, our belonging. It is to deny what we are, it is to decide who is Corsican and who is not, "denounced its owner Jean-Pierre Ottomani, an 80-year-old Corsican, in Corse-Matin.
Several dozen residences, most often secondary, have been targeted for a year in Corsica by arson or explosive charges, often accompanied by nationalist tags.
