The Lohhofer Volksfest celebrates its 70th anniversary: The city, innkeepers and showmen have put together an extensive programme for this purpose. Next Friday will be tapped.

Unterschleißheim – The Lohhofer Volksfest celebrates its 70th birthday this year. In the ten days between the tapping on 26 May and the final Family Day (4 June), visitors can look forward to umpteen highlights. Exciting rides, lively music as well as lots of beer and plenty of chicken await the guests.

After the successful premiere last year, the city has once again secured the services of landlady Angelika Fontenot and son Enrico Pfleghar. The commitment of the host family, which was approved by the city council last autumn, is valid up to and including 2025. This year's folk festival is peppered with highlights. For the 70th anniversary, Mayor Christoph Böck (SPD9) had already announced last year: "We're really going to knock one out!" In addition to the tapping, the parade of the clubs and bands from Unterschleißheim and the surrounding area as well as several party bands and the town band, there is a large, musically framed fireworks display on the program. The organizers promise a "magical spectacle" of colors, shapes and sounds. A musical journey through time through 70 years of the folk festival. The first surprise awaits the Unterschleissheim team the day before the tapping. In Lena's marquee, the Munich singer Lou Bega invites you to a warm-up party. In addition to his world hit "Mambo No. 5", he plays music from the 80s and 90s.

Highlights for seniors, volunteers and Co.

This year, too, the city is falling back on the tried and tested. Nobody has to do without Children's Day and Senior and Disabled Afternoons. To this end, the range of services will be expanded. There is also a dirndl and boys' club evening. In addition to discounted prices on rides and in the marquee, families with children can look forward to Punch and Judy shows and clowns. The police invite the youngest to try out sitting in the Peterwagen. For disabled people who celebrate their 70th birthday during the fair, the city is preparing a surprise. Böck does not want to reveal what it's all about. In principle, the following applies: Upon presentation of the disability card or an invitation from the city, disabled persons may pick up drink and food vouchers in the marquee from May 30 to June 2, from 12 noon to 15 p.m.

In addition, for the first time, the city honors all those who work "with blue lights to protect and save the lives of others." Two bands from the "blue light milieu" will play on this evening. On the drums of "Most Wanted": Oberschleissheim's police department head Stefan Schraut. The city also thanks volunteers with the "EhrenamtSpass", an ID card that provides carousels, Steckerlfisch and chicken at 50 percent of the daily price. The passes will be handed out daily from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m. at the stand next to the festival office.
