The National Police of Spain arrested on Tuesday three young people between 18 and 21 years for their alleged involvement in the racist insults received by the Brazilian striker of Real Madrid Vinicius last Sunday at the Valencia stadium.
As reported by the Superior Police Headquarters of the Valencian Community in a brief statement, all the detainees are Spanish and have been charged with an alleged crime related to the exercise of fundamental rights and public freedoms.
The same sources indicate that the information on these arrests will be expanded "later".
This same Tuesday morning the delegate of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, had said that three of the alleged authors of the racist insults were identified, although work is still being done on the visualization of videos both inside and outside the Mestalla stadium.
The arrests come after an intense debate over racism that revived in Spain this weekend, after several Valencia fans insulted and tried to 'monkey' the Real Madrid striker. Vinicius heard the screams, exploded with anger and came out to point to a fan.
He had previously received shouts in other matches, including the crossing with Barcelona at Camp Nou or the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid. In the run-up to this last match, a group of ultras from Diego Simeon's team had hung a doll with Vinicius' shirt on a bridge near the sports city of Valdebebas.
In that case, on Tuesday the police arrested four other young fans of Atletico, who can be accused of a hate crime. Are between 19 and 24 years old
"It wasn't the first time, it wasn't the second time, it wasn't the third. Racism is normal in LaLiga. The competition believes that it is normal, the Federation also and the opponents encourage it. I am sorry. The championship that once belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi today belongs to the racists. A beautiful nation, which welcomed me and which I love, but which agreed to export to the world the image of a racist country," the player had posted on his social networks after the scandal.
