The policeman who shot dead a motorcycle that stole his motorcycletestified before the prosecutor of the case that he fired in self-defense. The agent was still detained, while it was known that the robbers had assaulted a young man before.
This is Sergeant L. M. (31), who was questioned this afternoon by prosecutor Gabriel López, of the Functional Unit of Instruction (UFI) 8 of Moreno-General Rodríguez, who accused him of "aggravated homicide by the use of a firearm and for being effective of a security force," according to judicial sources reported to Telam.
In his defense, the policeman acknowledged having shot when defending himself from an attempted robbery and that he feared for his life and that of his girlfriend since the motorcycle had pointed a gun at him.
The officer said he did not remember identifying himself as such at the time of the incident and did not specify how many shots he fired, but he did stop shooting when the suspect fell to the ground, the informants said.
He also said that the gun he used was the one provided by the Buenos Aires police.
"He gave his version of events. He ratified what is seen in the images of the security camera that recorded what happened and cleared up doubts," a source with access to the file explained to Telam.
In turn, the prosecutor López was waiting for this afternoon the preliminary result to the body of the deceased, identified as Andrés Aníbal Carbonel (28), who was recognized in the morgue by a relative, although it still remains to be confirmed with the comparison of footprints.
With the elements provided by the forensic doctors, the prosecutor will decide whether to ask the Justice of Guarantees to order the formal arrest of the sergeant, who until this afternoon was still apprehended.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old pointed to the dead man and an accomplice as the criminals who shortly before the assault on the police had approached him in the street and stole his belongings, including an ID that appeared in Carbonel's possession.
"He identified him by the clothes," the investigation detailed.
At the same time, the General Audit of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Security of the province of Buenos Aires initiated an administrative investigation to investigate the actions of the police officer involved, sources of the force told Telam this afternoon, which, in turn, awaits how it will decide to continue justice with the case.
The agent who works in the Local Prevention Police of Ituzaingó was apprehended based on evidence that he shot to kill in the back, despite the fact that the thief was not armed, as observed in the images of a security camera of one of the "Safe Stops" of the municipality of Moreno.

According to sources, everything began last Sunday night between 20.32 and 20.33, in Lugones and Payró streets, in the town of La Reja, Moreno party, in the west of the conurbano.
According to the images of the security camera, the policeman and his girlfriend were aboard a red motorcycle when they were approached by the two occupants of a similar and blue vehicle that was put at par.
While they were advancing down the street, the passenger on the blue motorcycle approached the crew of the motorcycle as if pointing a firearm at them – which is not clearly seen in the video – so, a few meters later, the policeman stopped the march.
In those circumstances, the offender descended from the blue motorcycle and approached the couple, who also abandoned their vehicle.
In the images it was seen how first the woman walked away, then the policeman and the assailant sat on the motorcycle of the victims, placing both hands on the handlebars of the vehicle.
After that, it was observed that the policeman quickly retraced his steps, took out a firearm and fired five times at the "motochorro", who received at least four bullet wounds, one in the back.
Despite being shot, the assailant threw himself off the motorcycle and ran a few meters until he fell dead on the public road, out of reach of the security camera, while his accomplice escaped on the blue motorcycle.
After the fact, the police called 911 and when personnel from the local police station arrived at the scene they reported what happened, while the experts seized the 9 mm pistol used by the plainclothes cash.
