Time's argument
"Bizarrap cultivates an air of mystery, so much so that when it began to gain popularity, people wondered if it was a real person," journalist Moisés Mendez II wrote to justify the choice of the 2023 list.
"The producer and his guests record a simple music video for an original song composed together, which often features its characteristic electropop glow."
"They have gone viral not only for their beats, such as the rap created with Puerto Rican rapper Villano Antillano, but also for their content: their collaboration with Residente led to a short-lived feud between the rapper and J Balvin," he added to the profile of the 24-year-old producer born under the name Gonzalo Julián Conde.
As for metrics, Bizarrap has 7200 million views on YouTube and 41.8 million listens on Spotify.
"Their meteoric but unconventional rise signals a shift in the industry, proving that newcomers don't have to follow a certain path to find their audience," the US magazine noted.
