Africa in majesty! Finally, a recognition for this continent that has long been trying to emancipate itself from post-colonialism and assume its ecological transition, in the face of population growth and galloping urbanization! "Decolonization and decarbonization" are precisely the two major themes of this 18th Venice Architecture Biennale, addressing bluntly the crisis into which the planet is inevitably sinking. The issue around water - often rare and expensive like these silver geysers coming out of utopian architecture, huge black and white drawings, at the pavilion of the Netherlands - is also at the heart of the reflection of this great "laboratory of the future" imagined by its curator, Lesley Lokko.
