Since Javier Milei confirmed him as the candidate of La Libertad Avanza for the list of mayor of La Matanza, the name of David Adrián "El Dipy" Martínez gained notoriety and generated curiosity among those who were not aware of his artistic and media popularity.

He is 45 years old, has nine albums and dozens of high-exposure television scandals.

Artistic career

El Dipy entered the world of music as a DJ in La Matanza, met Sergio "Fideo" Galván, former member of the popular band Supermerk2, and together they put together the group El Empuje.

However, he still used his real name, Adrián Martínez. Only in 2006, with the release of the group's first album, he began to become known as "El Dipy". He had shows every weekend and regular appearances on the legendary tropical music television show: Pasión de Sábado.

A year after the debut with Cumbia cha cha came the successor, Estamos más allá de mi rosquete, which was Gold and Platinum thanks to the new songs and live versions of Todos las manos, Atento, Yo sé que vos, Un pastiempo nada más, Guampa Chata and Cheto arrepentido.

El Empuje's third and final studio album was 2008's No hay más vacante. Both El Dipy and Fideo were launched as soloists. In his case the albums were No me fui, No lo compra and Close de Ort.

Dancing for a dream

A milestone in the growth of popularity of El Dipy, and its arrival to another type of audience, was its participation in 2017 in Marcelo Tinelli's program, Bailando por un sueño, where it arrived after starting a call through the Internet accompanied by his partner, the model Mariana Diarco.

Since then, El Dipy alternated his musical activity with a passion for motorsport and a great media exposure criticizing Kirchnerism.

In music, in 2019 he signed a contract with the Mojo label to edit his songs, and during the pandemic he premiered a series of songs that were placed at the top of YouTube, such asFuiste vos, Jaguay and Baila Mono (cover of Dance Monkey, by the Australian artist Tones and I).

In addition, the hit Par-Tusa (a version of Tusa, Karol G and Nicki Minaj) was chosen for the celebration of PSG, after its qualification in the final of the Champions League.

He was nominated for the Gardel Awards for Best Tropical Artist Album with El peor de todos.

Motoring

In 2015, El Dipy climbed into a JRT Racing car to compete in the Fiat ASM category, and in 2020 in the Top Race Junior category.

In February 2021 he achieved his first podium in the category at the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez, with a third place.

Media life

El Dipy was one of the few artists, such as Alfredo Casero, who publicly defended the management of Mauricio Macri and Juntos por el Cambio.

The Dipy in one of his usual participations in TV, which increased since 2020 with his anti-Kirchner stance.

He was in programs of great impact, such as Intratables and Almorzando con Mirtha Legrand, always generating controversy with his sharp and brutal opinions. He never held back from insulting or attacking Alberto Fernández and Cristina Fernández.

In 2020 he also had two fights with Diego Brancatelli. The second time, Dipy told him that he was a "sorete of a person", well, without euphemisms and in the air.

He also handled himself with great skill in social networks, always with an anti-political and anti-Kirchner discourse.

As an example, it is enough to remember once he said: "The Argentine is very boludo, he always enters a little more. But not this time. These people don't want you to educate yourself, to be a little smart, because they don't vote for them anymore, they don't tame them, they can't put things in their heads. Bring me work, don't give me bags. The other day a woman didn't ask Alberto for a laburo, she asked him for an IFE. How do you not work? I can't understand how people vote for these people who are billionaires and guilty of their poverty."

And just as before he did not hesitate to photograph himself with pride with Macri or Patricia Bullrich, in recent months he approached Javier Milei, who saw the possibility of having him as a candidate for mayor in La Matanza.
