The Black Sea is once again at the heart of the war between Russia and Ukraine: Russian media reported on Wednesday a drone attack on a Russian naval vessel in the waters of the Black Sea.
Three unmanned vessels reportedly attacked the Ivan Khores after it passed through the Bosphorus Strait on its way to exploit its home in Sevastopol. This is an intelligence ship that was launched in 2017 and is considered one of the newest and most advanced in the Russian Navy.
Smoke rises from Crimean bridge in Ukraine
Kremlin-affiliated media reported that the ship suffered no damage and responded with missile and artillery fire and repelled the attack. However, the Russian navy has previously denied attacks on its vessels, including the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet Moskva, that turned out to be true.
Meanwhile, the Russian occupation authorities in Crimea announced the closure of the Kerch Bridge to traffic, claiming that a military exercise was taking place on the bridge. Footage posted on social media showed white smoke billowing over the bridge. Other videos showed Russian military smoke dispersion machines.
Experts believe it was an assault exercise, or an attempt to repel an attack on the bridge, but at this stage it is unclear what happened and whether the bridge was actually attacked. Ukraine recently received Storm Shadao cruise missiles with a firing range of more than 200 kilometers and capable of hitting a bridge.
