Several Israelis have been arrested in the United Arab Emirates for the murder of a compatriot, Dubai authorities said late Wednesday. "Dubai police said they arrested several Israelis after they assaulted and caused the death of another Israeli national," the media office, an official body, said. "Those accused will be brought before the Dubai Public Prosecutor's Office for further judicial proceedings," he added.
A man stabbed to death
The circumstances under which this incident took place are unclear. An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman told AFP that an "Israeli citizen of about 30 years old was stabbed to death in Dubai" on Wednesday. Local authorities are investigating the case, he said.
Murders are rare in Dubai, the UAE's top tourist destination that boasts of being a safe place. The UAE has welcomed hundreds of Israelis since the federation and Israel signed an agreement in 2020 to normalize diplomatic relations, under the auspices of the United States. As part of these so-called Abraham Accords, Morocco and Bahrain had signed similar agreements.
