The cross-examination of Ari Herro, one of the state's witnesses in Netanyahu's trial, continues today (Wednesday) in the Jerusalem District Court. During cross-examination, the prime minister's lawyer, Amit Haddad, tried to show that producer Arnon Milchan showered Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with gifts because of their closeness to each other, and that Milchan used to do the same to other politicians.

Herro, who was Netanyahu's bureau chief, confirmed that the two had a close friendship, but that he did not attend most of their meetings and therefore did not know what happened in the private conversations.

"The prime minister felt close to Milchan, I wasn't involved in the talks to that extent, he was definitely from the closest circle," Herro said. He confirmed that Milchan also assisted Netanyahu on political issues, including mediating between him and Ehud Barak when the latter entered the government in 2009.

During cross-examination, Netanyahu's defense attorney mentioned an event Milchan held in 2014 in honor of the State of Israel, in which senior politicians, financiers and film actors were also supposed to participate. Also present at the event was billionaire James Packer, one of those involved in Case 1000.

Herro confirmed that Netanyahu planned to address those people to glorify Israel's name, but added that he left that event early and did not know if he was actually speaking to those prominent personalities and celebrities.
