The debate about the future of the Wolfratshausen District Hospital also includes the question of how it will sell itself to the outside world in the future. An advertising agency is proposing a name change.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – How does the Wolfratshausen District Hospital have to position itself in order to move into a secure future? This question is currently being discussed. The district committee of the district council now dealt with a marginal aspect. There, opinions differed as to whether the hospital should be given a new "nickname". The proposal of an advertising agency to use the name "Klinikum Wolfratshausen" in the future fell through in the end.

Proposal: Instead of "Kreisklinik" in the future "Klinikum Wolfratshausen"

As Wolfgang Krause, head of the "Central Affairs" department at the district office, reported, the clinic had commissioned an agency to think about a new logo. The previous one is difficult to recognize on various printed products. In the course of this, according to Krause, the agency had also proposed a change of the "first name" to the supervisory board. This can be used in the external presentation, but does not change anything about the shareholders' agreement or the entry in the commercial register, as the head of department emphasized. The logo had already been adopted by the Supervisory Board on its own responsibility. In the case of the "first name", Krause found it appropriate that the district should be asked as a shareholder.

His parliamentary group strictly rejects the name change, CSU spokesman Martin Bachhuber clarified. "As long as the district is a donor, it is appropriate that the name district clinic is retained," he said. "If we were to remove the circle from the name, it could be misinterpreted. It must also be obvious to the outside world that the circle behind this house is standing."

Barthel: "I read on Wikipedia what a hospital is"

Jakob Koch (Greens) saw it differently: "We are all behind the district clinic, that has nothing to do with it." In the course of the ongoing structural process, the change of the logo and the name is "an idea on the way to the future". Following professional advice here "is part of supporting the clinic," says Koch. His father, Green Party spokesman Klaus Koch, warned against leaving the management of the clinic to district politics. "It's part of the structural process to bring a breath of fresh air here. Experts have thought about it, we shouldn't bring in our everyday opinions."

For Werner Weindl (CSU), the timing was not right. "Name and a logo should be at the end of a structural process and not at the beginning." Klaus Barthel (SPD) had looked in the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia to find out what is meant by the term "hospital". "This is an amalgamation of several clinics. That's too cocky for me." People would identify with the term district clinic "and that's it".

Vote on new nickname for district clinic

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier (Free Voters) said he could understand many of the arguments put forward, but saw it "dispassionately" himself. Since the topic of the district clinic is a "minefield", he stays out of the debate. In any case, there will be completely different topics about the future of the hospital, which will then have to be debated in much more essential ways. The vote in the committee ended in a 6-6 stalemate. The application was thus rejected.
