"Netanyahu's trial could last more than ten years": Attorney Zion Amir, one of Israel's top prosecutors, expressed support Wednesday evening for mediation between the prime minister's lawyers and the attorney general.
At the end of April, media reports began about the possibility of mediation in Netanyahu's trial. However, it was also reported that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara opposes this route at that point in time. This was followed by a report that the prime minister's lawyers tried to persuade her to change her mind.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Umdna Mediation Center in Be'er Sheva, Amir said: "Take, for example, a legal process that is tearing Israeli society apart in the case of Prime Minister Netanyahu, and the end is not in sight. A process that can take about ten years from the moment it is launched, and maybe much longer. Imagine if there was a mediator who brought the sides closer to a decent solution." Amir also suggested attorney Ram Caspi as a theoretical mediator.
Also participating in the opening event of the Umdna building were Beer Sheva City Fire Ruvik Danilovich, Chairman of the Bar Association Amit Bahar, MK Michael Biton and others.
Adv. Chen Avitan, founder and CEO of the Umdna Residence, said: "With the understanding that the concept of winner and loser in a legal battle and the 'Yakov HaDin on the Mountain' approach is less suitable for the current era, and it is doubtful whether it was suitable for a particular era in the past, our mission today is to create an Israeli society that lives in dignity, peace and ways of dialogue that cross sectors and beliefs. In a world where credit data and claims pass through 500MB of high-speed media, the legal world cannot continue to watch from the sidelines and conduct itself with the heaviness that characterized the last century. We have come to change all this."
