If you want to enjoy the last days of the merry month of May, you should plan outdoor activities at Pentecost. Sun and temperatures above 20 degrees are waiting.

Munich – After May began this year with storms, the Pentecost weekend is just around the corner. There is now good news for all hiking enthusiasts, barbecue masters and water mermaids: On the long Whitsun weekend, there is great weather and plenty of sun all over Germany. If you feel like and have time for a bike ride, hike or a day at the lake, you should seize the opportunity - and take advantage of the summer temperatures at Pentecost.

German weather at Pentecost: Plenty of sunshine and up to 27 degrees on the Whitsun weekend

"Pleasant warmth in most parts of the country and especially on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beautiful early summer weather," says meteorologist Dominik Jung von Wetter.net, summing up the outlook for Pentecost. "Perfect for family outings. There will be a lot going on in Germany," he continues. It will therefore start nicely from Saturday (27 May): Then the thermometer should show between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius in the north, in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony as well as in the center of the country up to 23 degrees Celsius. On the Upper Rhine, temperatures on Saturday will probably even be around 25 degrees Celsius. According to the weather forecast, there are 12 to 16 hours of sunshine throughout Germany.

On Pentecost Sunday (May 28), it will remain dry throughout the country, according to Jung. In the north there are a few denser clouds, in the south sun. While it will remain the coldest in the north over the whole weekend with around 18 degrees Celsius, the temperatures in the south with 25 to 27 degrees Celsius already allow one or the other jump into the cool water. In addition, there are loose cloud fields. In the east, temperatures reach up to 23 degrees Celsius.

Germany weather: Whit Monday is "still a little shaky candidate"

According to weather expert Jung, Whit Monday (29 May) is "still a little shaky candidate". This is where the American weather model differs from the European weather model: While the European weather model sees Monday as sunny and summery, the American forecasts rain and much cooler weather. According to meteorologist Alban Burster of Wetter.com, there may be "showers and thunderstorms" on Whit Monday, which will spread "on the edge of the Alps and along the southern low mountain ranges". Rain showers are also possible in the north, Burster said.

On the remaining days of May, however, there will be little precipitation throughout the country until June, according to the weather forecast. Although the rain could then return, there is also good news for sun worshippers: meteorologists have already predicted a hot summer for 2023. (lea)
