Munich – A million-dollar villa located directly on a lake - this is probably the perfect holiday home for many people. But not for Vladimir Putin: An old buddy built such a villa for the Russian president on Lake Saimaa in southeastern Finland, but the Kremlin boss does not want to use it at all.

In addition to a wine cellar, a sauna and a swimming pool, the three-storey villa will also have an underground car park and a billiard room. This is reported by the independent Russian magazine The Insider, citing a construction plan of the house.

The Russian journalist Sergei Kanev now reported that the villa was never completely completed. The house is said to be empty, Kanev was probably able to enter it through an open door. This can be seen in a video that shows the journalist on his foray through the villa.

In the video, you can see scaffolding, stacks of building materials, tiles, a ladder, cables, refrigerators and an uninstalled bathtub. On a cardboard box that Kanev found in the mansion, it was written in Russian: "Do not touch these boxes without my consent."

The client is Viktor Khmarin, general director of the largest hydroelectric power plant in Russia, and an old fellow student of Putin. According to The Insider, construction of the villa is said to have begun before July 2017. Due to low wages and poor working conditions, construction workers are said to have quit again and again.
